Nowadays many of us have two wardrobes- one of work clothes, and one of life-around-work clothes. Now, the crossover between these two will obviously vary hugely depending on what you have to wear to work. If you wear a uniform, I would hope that the only crossover item would be black opaques, not your polyester blazer! If you work in retail, chances are there will be a very high number of crossover items, presumably from your place of work. But, lets face it, a huge percentage of us work in an office. And dress codes vary wildly from office to office. I long ago got rid of my ’office wear’as I’m now freelance and any offices I visit tend to have a very relaxed dress code. September Issue

I was sat at home the other day sipping on my coconut water when my sister popped over with a new DVD for us to watch. It was called “The September Issue”, and ive got to say it was really fabulous. I had never heard of it before, but I would recommend it to any of you who are into fashion.

It follows the editor-in-cheif Anna Wintour through the process of making the September issue of Amarican Vogue Magazine in 2007 (which was the single largest publication to date). It really did open my eyes up to the way in which these magazines and fashion designers controll the mass trends. There are literally thousands of people throughout the world designing, promoting, advertising, and making all of these new clothes – desperately trying to become the next big thing, and it seems like at the end of the day much of it comes down to one lady (Anna) saying yes or no after just one glance at the items. If it gets a yes then it is featured in Vogue and will be seen by millions, and if it gets a no then it is disgarded, and left for the designers to try and get noticed by some other avenue.

It really is interesting to think that what you see in the magazines and shops and on the catwalks each season is the product of just a small selection of people, but then this influences a whole generation of people to go out and buy what is now ’in’.
